Bhimavaram Ruchulu Indian Cuisine opened a second location in July at 24726 S.R. 54 in Lutz, bringing Andhra and Hyderabad-style South Indian cooking to the corridor.
Owner Kumaravel "Kumar" Chinnthambi, who is originally from southern India, took over the former Rice N' Beans Express space for the new restaurant. He runs the first Bhimavaram Ruchulu at 10938 N. 56th St. in Temple Terrace, which has been open for more than a year.
That's So Tampa reported the opening on July 7, describing the Temple Terrace original as a "cult favorite." Neighborhood News reviewer Gary Nager visited the Lutz location and published his review on Friday, Aug. 28.
The menu leans Andhra and Hyderabad style, according to the restaurant's website. Dishes include Gobi 65, a Hyderabad-style fried cauliflower; Chicken Manchurian in ginger-garlic soy gravy; Paneer Tikka Masala; and the BR Special Boneless Chicken Biryani. The Lutz branch bills itself as "Premium Express" with a specialty in biryanis.
According to Neighborhood News, the kitchen grinds its own spices and follows traditional South Indian recipes. Chinnthambi acknowledged that most of the food skews spicy, which he said is characteristic of the cuisine.
The restaurant serves both vegetarian and non-vegetarian South Indian dishes and offers catering for weddings, corporate events and private parties.
The Lutz location is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. It is closed Tuesdays. Online ordering is available through UberEats, Grubhub and DoorDash.
The Lutz phone number is (813) 388-5972. More information is available at BRIndianCuisines.com.
