Three Steinbrenner High School robotics teams earned four awards at the Pinnacle at ROBOTICON tournament in Tampa, according to an Oct. 13 announcement from the Lutz school.

Team 11981D, known as Deimos, received the Tournament Champion and Design awards. Team 11981F, Fulcrum, earned the Excellence Award, while Team 11981E, Elmo, received the 3D Printing and Fabrication Award.

The competition took place Sunday, Oct. 11, at the HCPS-FCDI STEM Center at Adams Middle School in Tampa.

Students compete in engineering challenge

The Pinnacle tournament, organized under the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation's Achieve program, brought together middle and high school robotics teams.

Competitors designed and programmed robots to collect and stack objects, manipulate rollers and score points on a 12-by-12-foot field. The challenge tested robot design, programming, strategy and teamwork.

The event included judged awards recognizing engineering design, innovation and other technical achievements.

ROBOTICON continues through Oct. 24

The competition was part of ROBOTICON Tampa Bay 2026, a youth robotics showcase organized by the nonprofit Foundation for Community Driven Innovation.

The event series continues Oct. 17-18 with a FIRST Robotics Competition off-season tournament, followed by an aerial drone competition Oct. 24.

ROBOTICON features student-built robots and hands-on opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Organizers have not confirmed whether Steinbrenner's awards qualify the teams for additional competitions.
