Nocco ends Pasco plate reader contract effective Sept. 30

Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco formally ended the county's license plate reader agreement on Aug. 26, warning the Sept. 30 shutdown will hurt crime-solving while private cameras on CDD and HOA property remain active.

Pasco County to build sidewalk on deadliest school route in Land O' Lakes

Pasco County is set to begin construction on a sidewalk along Parkway Boulevard in Land O' Lakes, the county's most dangerous school pedestrian route, connecting Pineview Elementary to Collier Parkway with a new crosswalk in a 200-day state-funded project.

Heat index may reach 109 in Land O' Lakes area Aug. 11

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for Pasco and Hillsborough counties on Tuesday, Aug. 11, with heat index values reaching 105 to 109 degrees from noon to 7 p.m., just two days before Pasco County Schools opens for the new year.

State closes Pasco bay scallop season early over toxic algae

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission closed recreational bay scallop harvesting in all Pasco County state waters on Aug. 6, cutting the season 12 days short after detecting toxic algae at unsafe levels in the water.
