Pasco County's 2,982 registered summer readers have logged 1,104,477 minutes toward a 1.5-million-minute community goal, and Land O' Lakes and Odessa families still have about two weeks to join the push.
The Pasco County Library Cooperative's 2026 Summer Reading Quest, themed "Star Spangled Stories," runs through Saturday, August 2. Participants who log at least 600 minutes (10 hours) on the Beanstack app are entered in a drawing for a $100 Visa gift card in their age category, according to the library's program page. The Friends of the Pasco County Library System and the Friends of the Zephyrhills Public Library sponsor the prizes.
As of Friday, July 17, readers had hit 74% of the community target.
Rays-themed cards are new this year
The library cooperative is also running its "Reading with the Rays" partnership with the Tampa Bay Rays. Game cards have been available at all eight Pasco branch locations since Monday, May 18, or online at MLB.com/rays/community/reading.
New for 2026: a limited-edition Reading with the Rays library card, available free to new and existing patrons at any branch, according to the library's program page.
Where to participate locally
The Land O' Lakes Branch Library, managed by Regional Branch Manager Kathleen Rothstein, is at 2818 Collier Parkway. It's open Tuesday and Wednesday until 8 p.m., Monday and Thursday until 6 p.m., and Friday and Saturday until 5 p.m.
The Starkey Ranch Theatre Library Cultural Center in Odessa, managed by Amanda Ogle, is at 12118 Lake Blanche Drive. Its Youth Room is open to the public during all regular hours through the summer.
One note for Lutz-area families: the Lutz Branch Library at 101 Lutz Lake Fern Rd. W. is part of the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative, not Pasco's system, and does not participate in this program. The Land O' Lakes branch on Collier Parkway is the closest Pasco location for most Lutz residents.
How to sign up
Readers of all ages can register at pascolibraries.beanstack.org/reader365. Challenges are broken into five categories: birth to age 5, grades K–3, grades 4–7, grades 8–12, and adults 18 and older. Anyone who prefers not to use the app can email [email protected] to enter the prize drawing. Winners must pick up prizes in person at a Pasco branch.
