Land O' Lakes is getting a new fire station.

Pasco Fire Rescue is replacing Station 1 at the Pasco County Public Safety Campus with a modern facility expected to open this winter, Fire Chief Ryan Guynn confirmed in a Fox 13 report published Monday, July 14. No project cost or specific opening date has been released.

The current Station 1 originally operated as a vehicle inspection station before being converted to a fire rescue facility. The replacement is part of a countywide expansion driven by Pasco County's 22% population increase since 2020.

Two more stations underway across the county

The Land O' Lakes rebuild is one of three new Pasco Fire Rescue stations. Station 2 in Wesley Chapel, near County Road 54 and Fox Ridge Boulevard, opened the week of July 14. It houses Engine 2, Rescue 2 and Investigator 2. Station 4 in Odessa is under construction and expected to open in fall 2027.

Speaking about the Wesley Chapel station's impact on surrounding neighborhoods, Guynn said residents previously served by three different stations had been waiting 10 to 12 minutes for emergency response.

"We'll probably reduce that response time in half," Guynn said.

Pasco Fire Rescue has not released specific response-time projections for the rebuilt Land O' Lakes station.

Design cuts firefighter exposure to carcinogens

The new stations include health features not found in older facilities. Designated "hot" and "cool" zones separate contaminated gear from living quarters, reducing firefighter exposure to cancer-causing substances after fire calls. Crews remove gear, shower and change into clean clothing before entering the rest of the station.

These features apply across all three new facilities, according to the Fox 13 report.

What's still unknown about the rebuild

Staffing and apparatus details for the rebuilt Station 1 have not been announced. The station will remain at the existing Public Safety Campus location in Land O' Lakes.
