Dr. Marina Shurova and her U.S. Army Ranger husband have been running their own dental practice on North Dale Mabry Highway in Lutz for seven years. MyDental, at 17521 N. Dale Mabry Hwy., marked its seventh anniversary on April 4.

Shurova co-founded the solo, independently owned office in 2019. Every patient sees the same dentist at every visit.

"Dentistry, to me, isn't about selling procedures. It's about your health, caught early and cared for by someone who actually knows you," Shurova told the Laker/Lutz News. "After seven years, many of our patients feel like family. That relationship is the whole point."

Shurova's husband co-owns the practice and handles operations, including helping Spanish-speaking patients navigate their care. The arrangement makes MyDental both woman-led and veteran-led.

Training and credentials

Shurova graduated from the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in 2014 and completed a general practice residency at Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn, according to the practice's website. She has 12 years of clinical experience in general, cosmetic, restorative and implant dentistry and holds memberships in the American Dental Association and the Florida Dental Association.

The office provides care in English, Spanish and Russian, serving patients from Lutz, Land O' Lakes, Odessa, Tampa and Wesley Chapel. Dr. Ralph Garcia Jr., founder of the Bay Area Center for Craniomandibular Disorders in Tampa, provides TMJ services at the practice.
