Three early voting sites in Land O' Lakes and Odessa open Saturday, Aug. 8, giving local voters eight days to cast ballots before the Tuesday, Aug. 18 primary that includes a contested Pasco County Commission race.

Polls are open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Saturday, Aug. 15, at all 12 Pasco County locations, according to an announcement from Supervisor of Elections Brian E. Corley. Voters can use any site countywide, not just the one nearest their home. Any of the 12 works.

The three local sites for Land O' Lakes and Odessa residents:

  • Land O' Lakes Recreation Complex, 3032 Collier Pkwy, Land O' Lakes
  • Pasco County Utilities Administration Building, 19420 Central Blvd, Land O' Lakes
  • Odessa Community Center, 1627 Chesapeake Dr, Odessa

Corley's office previously confirmed the Recreation Complex as a local site. The full 12-site list, published Aug. 4, adds the Utilities Administration Building and the Odessa Community Center.

What to bring

Voters must present photo and signature identification. Anyone without acceptable ID will cast a provisional ballot. Voters who have moved should update their address before arriving at PascoVotes.gov/ovr or by calling 800-851-8754 to avoid delays.

Closed primary rules

Florida law requires voters to be registered with a party to vote in that party's partisan races. The Pasco County Commission District 4 Republican primary, where incumbent Lisa Yeager faces challenger Jonathon Deckard, is open only to registered Republicans. A write-in candidate, Louie Rodriguez, qualified for the general election, triggering the closed-primary restriction. Rodriguez's name will not appear on the Aug. 18 ballot.

Nonpartisan races, including school board and judicial seats, appear on every voter's ballot regardless of party.

Turnout and vote-by-mail

Pasco County's primary turnout has been low in recent cycles, according to county election records: 24.88% in 2022 and 15.88% in 2024. Corley's office has already mailed more than 37,000 vote-by-mail ballots for this primary, with the request deadline having passed Thursday, Aug. 6.

"Posting voter turnout is part of our commitment to transparency with elections in Pasco County," Corley said in a July 17 press release announcing that daily turnout figures would be updated every 10 minutes at PascoVotes.gov through 6 p.m. on Election Day.

Lutz voters in Hillsborough County

Lutz residents whose homes fall in Hillsborough County vote under a separate schedule. Hillsborough's early voting runs Monday, Aug. 3 through Sunday, Aug. 16 at 27 sites. For specific locations, visit VoteHillsborough.gov.

Election Day

On Tuesday, Aug. 18, polls open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., but voters must report to their assigned precinct rather than any site of their choice. Sample ballots and precinct information are available at PascoVotes.gov.
