Chewy Vet Care opened a veterinary clinic Sept. 4 at 17637 Harpers Run in Lutz, giving pet owners in the area a new option for routine checkups, urgent care and surgery.

Seventh clinic opens in Florida

The Lutz location is the company's seventh veterinary practice in Florida. Chewy launched its first clinic in April 2024 near its corporate headquarters in Plantation and has since expanded to Jacksonville, Coral Springs, Delray Beach, Aventura and Boynton Beach, according to The Laker/Lutz News.

Viewing window lets owners watch visits

The clinic features a treatment viewing window so owners can watch while their pets receive care. Personalized monitors in the facility display information about each pet's visit, and owners get online access to medical records, prescriptions and updates.

Clinics built around exam and surgery space

Chewy Vet Care clinics typically include four exam rooms, a treatment center, pharmacy, surgery and radiology areas, and a reception area with separate waiting sections for cats and dogs, according to plans filed for a Jacksonville location earlier this year.

The Lutz practice ties into Chewy's broader health platform, including its online pharmacy, its Connect With a Vet telehealth service and PetMD.

Rapid expansion across five states

Chewy, the publicly traded online pet retailer, has been building out its veterinary care footprint quickly. The company opened 18 clinics across Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia and Texas since April 2024. In April 2026, Chewy announced an agreement to acquire Modern Animal, a veterinary platform with 29 clinics, according to Pet Food Industry. That deal would bring the company's total clinic count to 47 nationwide.

CEO cites growing veterinary market

Chewy CEO Sumit Singh said in an April 8, 2026, press release that the acquisition "accelerates our Vet Care expansion" and would drive higher long-term customer value. The U.S. veterinary services market was valued at about $40 billion in 2025 and is growing at roughly 5% annually, according to Chewy's acquisition announcement.

Quarterly sales top $3 billion

The company reported 21.7 million active customers and $3.33 billion in net sales for the quarter ending Aug. 2, up 7.3% year over year, according to Retail TouchPoints.
