The westbound bridge deck over Five-Mile Creek on the Ridge Road Extension is 90% complete, Pasco County reported Friday, Aug. 28.

The milestone marks visible progress on the corridor connecting Ridge Road to U.S. 41 in Land O' Lakes. The county targets a fall 2026 completion for the full project.

Pile driving and substructure work continue at the Five-Mile Creek crossing alongside the deck construction, according to the county's public information office. Roadway construction and shared-use path work are also advancing across the corridor.

A separate county Facebook post described the bridge as 70% complete in an earlier update, though it is unclear whether that figure referred to the same westbound deck or overall bridge progress at the crossing.

The 90% mark follows a summer of steady construction. By June 22, crews had laid fresh pavement on both sides of the extension up to the CSX railroad bridge and were preparing to set two 200-foot girder bridges over the railroad. New traffic signal mast arms were also being installed at Ridge Road and North Sunlake Boulevard at that time.

The extension runs near Moffitt Cancer Center's 775-acre Speros campus off Ridge Road east of the Suncoast Parkway. Moffitt opened a new outpatient cancer center there in January 2026, part of more than $1 billion in capital investment on the site.

No specific completion month within fall 2026 has been announced. No upcoming public meeting or comment deadline related to the project appeared in county records as of publication.
