Families at Land O' Lakes High School, Sunlake High School and every other Pasco campus no longer pay the $3.50-per-child transaction fee that MySchoolBucks charged each time they loaded money onto a student meal account.

The fee disappeared when Pasco County Schools launched Pasco One, a free mobile app that consolidates grades, attendance, bus routes, school schedules and cafeteria payments into a single platform. The district rolled it out before the 2026-27 school year began Aug. 13 across all 106 schools, according to Fox 13 Tampa Bay.

What the old fees cost families

For a household with three children loading lunch money once a week, those fees added up to roughly $42 a month under the old system.

"You could spend about $42 a month if you've got three kiddos," School Board member Jessica Wright told Fox 13 on Aug. 10. "You're loading that once a week and that's anywhere from 11 to 15 school lunches a week."

Wright, who is also a high school social studies teacher, said the board saw an opportunity to cut costs while streamlining digital tools. School Board Chair Colleen Beaudoin called the app a "tangible resource" and said limiting fees is helpful to families.

District leaders say eliminating the transaction fee means more of the money families load onto meal accounts goes directly toward student meals.

One app replaces several district platforms

The app replaces about three separate platforms parents previously juggled for district information and payments. Superintendent John Legg described the consolidation in an Aug. 7 Bay News 9 interview, saying families "don't have to go to multiple apps" anymore.

More than 12,000 people had already downloaded Pasco One as of Aug. 10, according to the district. Pasco is among a small number of Tampa Bay-area public school districts offering its own all-in-one app.
