Small business owners in Land O' Lakes, Lutz and Odessa can now get a dedicated county staff member to walk them through permitting and development, free of charge.

The service is free.

Pasco County launched its Work Local Small Business Support Program on Wednesday, Aug. 12, with the Small Business Concierge Service as the first offering. The service pairs locally owned businesses with 25 or fewer employees with staff from the county's Planning, Development and Economic Growth department and Building Construction Services who serve as a single point of contact throughout the permitting process.

"By connecting early in the process to determine the most efficient path forward, we can help Pasco's small business owners meet their goals and achieve long-term success," David Allen, assistant county administrator for development services, said in an Aug. 4 announcement reported by the Laker/Lutz News.

The concierge service includes a personalized review of a commercial project proposal, a dedicated liaison to guide owners through permitting requirements and expedited permitting designed to identify potential cost savings.

The broader Work Local program also includes grants and incentives beyond the concierge service, according to the Tampa Bay Beacons, though the county has not released details on those components.

Allen described the effort as part of Pasco's commitment to strengthening the local business community and reducing common challenges, according to NatureCoaster.com.

Business owners can complete an online intake form at mypas.co/worklocalprogram (also listed as mypas.co/worklocal) or call Pasco County Customer Service at 727-847-2411. The county will follow up to schedule a one-on-one exploratory meeting. No application deadline has been announced.

Land O' Lakes, Lutz and Odessa are unincorporated Pasco County communities, so the program applies directly to businesses operating in those areas.
